McDonald’s Plan Kovid Security Tests to Avoid Epidemic Fatigue

McDonald’s will conduct a coronavirus safety review of its restaurant over the next six weeks as health experts worry that Kovid’s fatigue is contributing to the high number of new cases reported in the US.

A seven-day average of new Kovid-19 cases exceeded 131,400 on Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University data. According to CNBC analysis, the rate of new daily infections is 32% higher than the same time as the previous week.

The increase in transition has prompted some states and municipalities to announce stricter restrictions before the holiday season. For example, New York State has implemented a 10 o’clock night curfew for indoor and outdoor dining. Some places, such as McDonald’s hometown of Chicago, have once again banned indoor food.

According to an internal note to US operators overseen by CNBC, McDonald’s will host one trip per franchisee. The assessments were made in collaboration with franchise leadership. McDonald’s US Chief Field Officer Charlie Strong, National Franchise Leadership Alliance Chairman Mark Selbra and franchisee Tracy Johnstone wrote the letter.

Inspections will assess how a franchise is executing the “top five operating minimums”. Once completed, the franchisees are expected to ensure that the rest of their locations also follow best practices. The goal is to complete all trips by 31 December.

Strong, Sellabra and Johnstone also emphasized the importance of the use of equipment to enable contactless pay and make social distance possible in the kitchen.

“We remind the system that our actions are being watched very closely by consumers, crew and other external stakeholders,” the letter said.

The fast-food giant has faced several lawsuits, alleging that the company’s franchisees failed to adequately protect them from contracting the virus. In one case, a Chicago judge found that McDonald was not negligent, but required his workers to be better trained on social distance and wearing masks properly.

McDonald’s US President Joe Erlinger wrote in a moderate post published on Friday that the series would convene several roundtables to discuss its Kovid-19 prevention practices with others in the industry.

He said, “This is an area where we don’t see anyone as a competitor. An organization of our scope and scale can share what we have learned, the more we can help make everyone safer.” Are, “he said.

Erlinger also said that the rate of infection at McDonald’s restaurants is lower than the general US population, but the company is aiming to eliminate new cases. He asked employees to report any suspicious cases through the chain’s Kovid hotline.

“Ultimately, the success of McDonald’s – such as the success of Walmart, Apple, Starbucks, or any other US-based business – depends on all of us to get back to some version of normal as quickly as possible,” he wrote.

McDonald’s shares were almost flat in Friday afternoon trading. The stock, which has a market value of $ 164 billion, has risen 7% this year.
