Matt Cardona makes AEW debut, saves Cody Rhodes after successful title defense

As advertised, Cody Rhodes defended his AEW TNT Championship against indie wrestler Warhorse in tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

Cody did not try to take his challenger seriously and seemed to resent sharing the ring with him. Warhorse would strike first by killing a large larva, although Rhodes was not much shaken by the exchange. Cody then targeted his opponent’s leg, benefiting his technical wrestling and hitting a big superplax.

Rhodes once again showed his arrogance by doing push-ups inside the ring, allowing the Warriors to recover. The challenger managed to land a top rope elbow drop, good for a near-fall but could not seal the deal. Coty would then close in on a figure four to win a Hate submission.

After the match, members of the Dark Order hit the ring and attacked Rhodes and the Warhorse. Matt Zadona, the former Zac rider, then ran in and rescued his friend.
