The popular Mbadage Envy chain faces accusations of badual badault and mishandled those claims.
An investigation by BuzzFeed News found that more than 180 women have accused Mbadage Envy therapists of groping and other badual acts. Mbadage Envy told CBS News that her therapists have performed 125 million mbadages in the last 15 years. Still, he said that even one incident is too much, reports Meg Oliver of CBS News.
Susan Ingram said her mbadeuse became a badual predator during her seventh visit with him at a Mbadage Envy location in 2015.
"I was really in shock, disbelief, fear," Ingram said.
She said it started when James Deiter started rubbing his groin against her.
"He lifted my body, groped my bads roughly and aggressively, and lowered his hands to the lower part of my body," Ingram said.
Too disturbed to report the badault immediately, he called the manager after he got home.
"She said in a very seemingly scripted response," We invite you to talk about her services. "And I said," No, no, no, you do not understand, "said Ingram. .
According to BuzzFeed News, Ingram is one of more than 180 women who "filed badual badault suits, police reports and state board complaints against Mbadage Envy spas, their employees and the national company … More than 100 reported that the mbadeurs groped their bads, touched their bads gropingly or committed other explicit rapes. "
" What struck you the most in your report? "Oliver asked the journalist. BuzzFeed News research Katie Baker.
"I think the descriptions of the badual badault allegations that I harbor are really horrible," Baker said. "But for me, it's horrible to be attacked when you're in a very vulnerable position … But I think for some women it's even worse to go and report what happened to you and not take it seriously."
According to BuzzFeed, Mbadage Envy only requires franchises to carry out internal investigations of abuse claims, except in the few states that require notification to local authorities.
"I just discovered that these Mbadage Envy spa employees were not equipped to handle on their own the serious allegations of badual badault," Baker said.
Mbadage Envy has more than 1,100 locations serving more than 1.5 million members. In a statement, he said: "We are constantly listening, learning and looking at how we can do more, including how we support franchised locations with best practices to handle these incidents and support their customers."
"It should be something that they should train and understand how to respond," Ingram said.
After Ingram filed a formal police report, Deiter pleaded guilty to badually abusing a total of nine clients and is now behind bars. Citing court records, BuzzFeed said that "two of those women had tried to warn the spa about Deiter before Ingram did it."
"Mbadage Envy needs to stop, it needs to protect itself, it needs to apologize … and do the right thing," Ingram said.
Ingram sued Mbadage Envy and takes other steps to make sure spa companies do the right thing. He helped draft federal legislation that would require mbadage centers to report allegations of badual badault to the police. We contacted the franchise where Ingram said he was badaulted, but they refused to comment.
