Martin Truex Jr. to start from behind in Kansas

The No. 19 NASCAR Cup Series car, driven by Martin Truex Jr., will go backwards on the Kansas route due to two inspections for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 (2:30 pm ET, NBC / NBC Sports App, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). Failure before the race.

Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was originally slated to start the race in fifth place on the grid, but it would fall back during the pace gap.

“It’s not optimal,” Truex Jr. said in a pre-race media session. “This is not what you are expecting. I do not know. we will see. We have taken it much further this year. It is what it is. We will deal with this. This place, fortunately, has a lot of lanes that you can run, in fact the entire race track works. You just have to go where they are not and can pick them up one by one. ”

Truax, which is in the round of 8 and has qualified for Championship 4 in each of the last three seasons, is 10 points below the playoff cutline in Sunday’s race. In 24 career races in Kansas, Truex has two wins, 11 top-10 finishes and an average finish of 13.4.

The No. 53 Ford driven by James Davison would also fall backwards for two inspection failures. The Rick Ware Racing entry was originally slated to start 33rd.
