In a video posted to Instagram, Carey said she was “a little excited and nervous” about getting her first shot. But he took a deep breath, rolled up his sleeve, and let out one of his famous high notes as the needle dug into his arm.
“Side effect of vaccine: G6,” Carey wrote in the caption.
Speaking to his 10 million followers, Carey winked at the current state of the pandemic compared to the state of a year ago. He referenced a video he posted with his children in March 2020, encouraging people to properly wash their hands when the pandemic was just beginning. “We are still in this battle together,” Carey said before being shot.
Carey is one of several celebrities asking people to get vaccinated when they can. Dolly Parton also brought her singing skills when she received her injection, singing a vaccine-inspired version of “Jolene.”
While Carey didn’t say if he was getting the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, he did say that this shot was only the first part, so stay tuned for the aftermath in three to four weeks.
