ST. LOUIS • A man was shot by police officers in northwest St. Louis on Tuesday morning, police said.

Authorities say the man was shot by officers near the intersection of Hodiamont Avenue and Page Boulevard around 11:15 a.m. and was taken to a hospital. Details about the person's condition were not immediately available, and the police did not immediately explain the circumstances of the shooting.

Police said a suspect remains a fugitive.

Two officers suffered minor injuries in the altercation, police said. It was not clear how they were injured.

A police evidence technician was examining a black sedan in the 1200 block of Hamilton after the shooting. The officers were using a dog to search the area.

The incident marks the second shooting involving an officer in the city within a week. A 17-year-old armed, Rehyen Bost-McMurray, was shot dead by officers on November 23, Thanksgiving, in the College Hill neighborhood of St. Louis. The police said Bost-McMurray pointed a gun at the officers.

A 14-year-old boy was also shot in that incident, but he survived.
