“La Bamba” star Lou Diamond Phillips was busted for driving whereas intoxicated and is being retained in a Texas jail.
The actor, 55, was arrested in Portland — a southeastern Texas metropolis — at round 1:30 a.m. Friday after he drove up behind a cop and requested for instructions, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported.
Suspecting Phillips could also be inebriated, the officer then required the actor to take a number of sobriety exams, based on the newspaper.
Phillips was arrested shortly after, and he reportedly registered a .20 blood alcohol focus after arriving on the police station — which is greater than twice the authorized restrict.

His bail is predicted to be set someday Friday.

Phillips had been scheduled to talk at an occasion referred to as “Voices of South Texas — Old Bayview Cemetery Comes Alive” in Corpus Christi later Friday. Portland and Corpus Christi are separated by about eight miles.
In addition to his starring gig in “La Bamba,” Phillips is understood for his roles in “Stand and Deliver,” “Courage Under Fire, the “Young Guns” films and his performances on Broadway.
He at the moment performs one of many important characters on the A&E western drama collection “Longmire” as effectively.
