Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, who starred in more than 100 films, died in Mumbai on Monday. He was 79 years old and had been battling a kidney condition. The funeral took place at noon on Tuesday in the city.
Kapoor, three times winner of the National Film Awards of India, is survived by his three children: Sanjana, Kunal and Karan. His wife, the English actress Jennifer Kendal, died in 1984. He was part of what became known as the first Bollywood family, son of Prithviraj Kapoor and two brothers who were also prominent men: Raj, who died in 1988, and Shammi, who died in 2011..
1.50 pm, IST: Shashi Kapoor received a state funeral, held in the midst of mbadive security around 12 noon. The body of the actor and producer was taken to the crematorium from his home in Juhu in an ambulance at 11:45 a.m. M. Their three children, the sons Kunal and Karan, and their daughter Sanjna, were there as well as other members of the Kapoor family and dozens of personalities of the film to bid farewell to the actor.

1 pm, IST: Bollywood celebrities came to the crematorium to pay their last respects to Shashi Kapoor. The actors Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, the director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and the son of Shashi Kapoor, Kunal, were among those who saw each other there.
12.43 p.m., IST: Sonam Kapoor shared messages on Instagram remembering the actor. He added.
12.40 pm, IST: Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek arrived at the residence of Shashi Kapoor for the actor's last rites. Members of the Kapoor family, Rishi Kapoor with his son Ranbir and Randhir Kapoor with their daughters Kareena and Karisma, also attended the funeral.
12.20 pm, IST: Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan arrived at the residence of Shashi Kapoor on Monday night as did Karisma with mother Babita. Ranbir Kapoor and his grandmother Krishna were seen at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital after the death of Shashi Kapoor.
11.50 a.m. IST: The actors Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah arrived at the residence of Shashi Kapoor. The last rites of Kapoor will take place later today, as Mumbai deals with torrential rains. Kapoor's nephew, actor Rishi Kapoor, canceled his photo shoot on Monday and ran to Mumbai after learning of his uncle's disappearance.
11.30 a.m. IST: Shashi Kapoor's funeral will take place in Santa Cruz, Mumbai, at noon. Bollywood celebrities have begun to arrive at the actor's residence. Sanjay Dutt was among the first to arrive. On Monday night, Amitabh Bachchan visited the family of Kapoor to condole his death along with his son Abhishek and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Kajol and Rani Mukerji also paid tribute to the actor.

Shashi Kapoor, who underwent cataract surgery in 2012, was the third and youngest son of the late actor and director Prithviraj Kapoor . It was the last of the second generation of the illustrious Kapoor family who pbaded away. His brother Raj Kapoor died in June 1988 and Shammi Kapoor breathed his last in August 2011.
While Shashi Kapoor often shared screen space with actresses, including Sharmila Tagore, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman and Rakhee He also worked with his wife in films such as Junoon and Bombay Talkie.
