Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, who starred in more than 100 films, died in Mumbai on Monday. He was 79 years old and had been battling a kidney condition. The funeral took place at noon on Tuesday in the city.

Kapoor, three times winner of the National Film Awards of India, is survived by his three children: Sanjana, Kunal and Karan. His wife, the English actress Jennifer Kendal, died in 1984. Shashi Kapoor, who underwent cataract surgery in 2012, was the third and youngest son of the late actor and director Prithviraj Kapoor .
