Luxury SUV. Everyone has to have them. So after the release of 2018 Navigator not to mention the updated MKC and Nautilus (née MKX), Lincoln will resurrect the name of Aviator for a brand-new SUV that we will see at the New York Auto Show later this month.
That's right, the Aviator has returned. And if this new model looks like the previous Aviator, produced between 2002 and 2005, it will be based on the Ford Explorer. It makes sense to us: there is plenty of room for a three-row SUV to join Lincoln's lineup between the Nautilus and the Navigator.
Assuming that the Aviator shares its components with the Explorer, we can expect both the front and all-wheel to be offered. On the front of the powertrain, the Explorer EcoBoost V6 3.5-liter seems a safe bet, and Ford's 2.3-liter EcoBoost 2.3 could also be a possibility.
Of course, we will not know anything with certainty until the Aviator makes his public debut later this month. Look for the new Lincoln to greet the world on Wednesday, March 28.
