- The renders of Huawei’s upcoming Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro have reportedly leaked online.
- The new Flag Mate will feature a larger rear camera array than the 30.
- It will also have a P40 style selfie cam system.
According to a new leak, the follower of the Huawei Mate 30 may be more of a camera-centric phone than its predecessor.
HandsetExpert And PriceBaba Together with OnLeaks they posted renders of what they say are the Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro, and the centerpiece is clearly the camera array on the back. There is now a major bump with three cameras and an unspecified sensor (possibly a Mate 30-style depth sensor). It is reminiscent of Nokia’s Lumia 1020, where the phone’s design revolves around photography.
There may also be significant changes on the front. Huawei is reportedly replacing the notched selfie camera on the P40 series with a dual-sensor hole-punch setup. If the Mate 40 mimics the P40’s layout, there will be only one camera – the other a darker sensor for portrait selfies.
Tipster did not share many of the hardware details inside, although it is safe to assume that you will find a Kirin chip. The Mate 30’s “waterfall” display on the Pro model remains intact. The Mate 40 is still expected to run EMUI on top of Android without Google services due to a US trade embargo, with AppGallery and other software filling the gaps.

Prices and availability for the Mate 40 series are not yet clear. However, Huawei introduced the Mate 30 in September 2019, soon after IFA. We will not deny the same time for the Mate 40, at least with the prices. The Mate 30 debuted at € 799 for the regular model and climbed to € 1,099 for the Mate 30 Pro. Huawei may not be in a hurry to change this formula while flourishing in a tough market.
