DENVER (CBS4) – State legislator Lori Saine was arrested at Denver International Airport for "knowingly" carrying a 9mm loaded gun to TSA control.
Saine, 43, a Republican representing District 63 in the Dacono and Firestone area, was arrested at the North checkpoint on Tuesday.
The Kahr Arms 9 mm loaded semi-automatic pistol, with four rounds in the magazine, was observed in the X-ray detection machine inside a bag belonging to Saine. There was not a round in the camera.
According to police documents, Saine "intentionally brought the gun into the North Screening Check point. "
was arrested for investigating the filing of a firearm in a public transport facility. The charge of carrying a weapon in a transportation facility is a sixth-degree felony.
Saine will appear in court Wednesday afternoon for his first appearance.
Saine sponsored a bill in the 2017 legislative session to revoke bans on ammunition magazines. That bill died in committee.
Saine serves on three committees, the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources, the Legislative Council and the Legislative Audit Committee.
