Lawsuit claims trainer taped special-needs lady’s mouth shut

The incident came about in March 2016 at High Point School in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The go well with, filed this week, stated staffers overmedicated Rosa Smith, left her in a toilet and slapped her. It alleges that the trainer, Nesa Johnson, duct-taped Smith’s mouth shut and texted her mom a photograph of it with the caption “Help. She won’t be quiet!!!!”

There have been two aides within the clbadroom on the time along with the trainer, the go well with says.

The Washtenaw School District stated in an announcement that nobody reported the incident when it occurred.

“The intensive program that Rosa was in, every time the parents would report a problem the school, would badure them that it was safe and that they were going to resolve the issues,” the Smith household’s layer, Jonathan Marko, stated Thursday. “This was not a situation where they could pull their daughter out of the school and put them in another school. It’s not that easy. This is an intensive program she was put into that was supposed to keep her safe.”

The Washtenaw Intermediate School District instructed CNN it was not conscious of any points with Smith on the time and took speedy motion as soon as it was.

“As to the subject of this lawsuit, the family did not report this, or any other complaint to the district, until nearly a year after it occurred,” the district stated in an announcement.

“During that subsequent year, the student continued attending school, in the same clbadroom, with the same teacher. When we were first informed of the family’s concern, we immediately conducted a complete investigation and took appropriate remedial action.”

Rosa Smith withdrew from High Point School and now receives full time care and instruction from her mother and father at house, who’re retired.

Johnson is now not employed by district and stated she didn’t want to remark when reached by CNN.
