Most of the Covid-19 cases detected on Sunday were registered in two cities

The highest number of patients in the last two weeks is in Riga – 2339, Jelgava – 323, Daugavpils – 284, Ogre region – 195, Jūrmala – 188, Rēzekne – 166, Gulbene region – 148, but in Liepāja – 147 population. At the same time, no cases of Covid-19 infection have been recorded in the districts of Alsunga, Baltinava, Roja, Rucava and Strenči for the last 14 days.

The LETA Agency’s calculations, which are based on data from the Central Statistical Office on the population in the counties by actual place of residence in 2020 and the data from the SPKC on the last 14 days of illness in the municipalities of Latvia, show that the 14-day cumulative morbidity per 100,000 inhabitants in Latvia is currently 346.6.

In total, in 36 municipalities this indicator is higher, including 13 it is exceeded by 50%.

Calculating the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days after the changes that took place last day, it is the highest in Vecpiebalga, Rūjiena, Zilupe, Gulbene, Viļaka, Aknīste, Ludza region, Rēzekne, Ogre region , Jelgava and Balvi. region.

The two-week morbidity rate per 100,000 inhabitants is a theoretical indicator that allows comparison of the morbidity rate in areas with different populations, and does not indicate a specific number of cases.

Of the new cases registered the day before, 49 are between 30 and 39 years old, 39 are between 60 and 69 years old, 34 are between 50 and 59 years old, and other age groups have fewer cases.

Last day a total of 210 cases of Covid-19 were detected in Latvia and information was received about the death of four patients, according to information collected by the SPKC.

The incidence of Covid-19 in Latvia is consistently high. For the fifth consecutive day, the two-week cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population is increasing slightly, but has now reached 346.5 cases. Recently, the lowest indicator was on April 7: 330.6.

Of the Covid-19 patients who died on the last day, one was between 50 and 59 years old, two between 70 and 79 years old, and another between 80 and 89 years old.
