Latest NFL draft mockups project Mac Jones as top 10

There hasn’t been an FBS college football game played in nearly two months, but as is often the case, opinions on NFL draft prospects have changed the more they have been scrutinized.

With less than eight weeks until the first round of the draft begins on April 29, one of the fastest-rising players in the first round is former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.

Seen as a first-round pick from mid to late at the end of the football season, draft experts now project Jones as one of the top 10 and potentially the first Tide player chosen by a professional team next month. . Jones appeared to outmaneuver his top two receivers in DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle in the process.

Jones practiced and went through interviews at the Senior Bowl in January, but did not play due to an ankle injury. Without combining this year and private campus workouts banned due to COVID-19 restrictions, the next and last chance for teams to see Jones on the field before the draft will be on Alabama’s Pro Day on March 23.

Teams can also conduct video interviews with Jones and other prospects, but traditional visits to the NFL practice facilities to meet with coaches and discuss the film are not allowed this year.

Here’s the latest look at where national media drills project former Alabama players will be taken April 29-30:
