Fans suspect that the new game Tomb Raider was in the works shortly after the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider, when an eagle-eyed traveler glanced at a laptop at a presentation for a new game with the working title Shadow of the Tomb Raider . The Square Enix announcement did not provide any clarification on who is developing the new game Tomb Raider. Although the two previous entries in the extremely successful reboot came from Uncharted's Crystal Dynamics studio, Eurogamer reported from inside sources that Eidos Montreal (more recently known for its reboots of Deus Ex and Thief) would take the franchise for this third entry. The Tomb Raider franchise has twice played an instrumental role in the development of the 3D action and adventure genre: helping to establish the genre in the first place with the original 1996 and then defining its modern era with the restart of 2013. Lara Croft, protagonist of the series, endures as one of the most iconic figures of the game, either in its problematic first instance centered on the masculine look or its more humanized and more realistic proportions. The second life of the franchise has been so popular that Ex Machin a star Alicia Vikander will assume the role in an upcoming film adaptation (following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie from previous film versions).
Waiting until "a big event in 2018" to get more news can mean that we do not learn anything until E3 in June, but we will collect all the details and rumors that we compiled until then.
