Kroger said Monday that he will close his Columbus bakery immediately, at a cost of 411 jobs.
"After the evaluation of the equipment and the design of the plant, it became clear that the obsolete design and the antiquity of the equipment were no longer sustainable so that we can remain competitive," the company said in a statement. "Production at the plant will cease immediately and the closing process of its operations is expected to take 60 to 90 days."
The bakery is on Cleveland Avenue, near downtown.
The shopkeeper said there are no plans to close other facilities.
