Kidnapping victim of a shot: chronology of events




HOUSTON – Here is a chronology of the events involved in the kidnapping in which FBI agents mistakenly shot the victim.

Wednesday morning

Authorities responded to reports of a disturbance in a home in the 1700 block of Tyler Lane in Conroe. Authorities said that two men broke into the house by force. A 12-year-old boy and his father were at home at that time. The father opened the door and the men entered with weapons, according to the investigators. The men demanded money, tied the child and the father and began to register valuables in the house. The men removed the father from the house, left the child and told him not to contact the police. The child was able to free himself and get in touch with a neighbor.

Wednesday afternoon

A family member, who lives in Conroe's house but was not at home during the invasion of the home, responded to the scene to speak with the police. During the meeting, the family member received a phone call from an unknown person who demanded money for the safe return of the father, according to the police. Then, the Conroe police contacted the FBI, who responded quickly and began to help.

Wednesday Evening

With the help of the FBI, two men were detained in a hotel room near the intersection of Bay Area Boulevard and I-45, in Webster. Jimmy Tony Sanchez, 38, and Nicholas Chase Cunningham, 42, were arrested. They are being accused of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. Investigators said they could be charged with capital murder. Investigators learned that the abduction victim was being held at a different location in the 7300 block of Elbert Street in Trinity Gardens, northeast of Houston.

Thursday morning

Investigators and the FBI went to the house on Elbert Street, where FBI agents entered a home where the victim was detained. According to the sources, FBI agents accidentally or accidentally shot the victim. The victim was taken to a hospital in the area, where he was pronounced dead. The third suspect, Sophia Perez Heath, 35, was arrested at the scene. She is being accused of aggravated kidnapping.
