Cleveland Cavaliers great man Kevin Love said his reason for leaving the bank during overtime of Game 1 of the NBA The finals on Thursday had nothing to do with the skirmish on the court that was happening.

According to ESPN's Rachel Nichols, Love told him that he was instead trying to get into the officers' line of sight to argue against his teammate Tristan Thompson being ejected with 2.6 seconds left:

Kevin Love told me that he left the bank in OT to discuss the call to Tristan, walking towards the court to enter the line of the officers, not in reaction to any fight and before it will burst. The video (through @bballbreakdown) seems to support this; I'm not sure if it's going to matter to the league

Also, Love could be subject to a suspension due to the rules of the NBA against players leaving the bank during the altercations.

The problem occurred when Thompson pushed the ball towards Golden State Warriors and advanced the face of Draymond Green out of frustration.

According to Chris Haynes ] Both Thompson and Love could be subject to a suspension for their actions.

While Love has had a postseason up and down so far, he was the second most productive player in Cleveland in Game 1 of the Final behind LeBron James.

Love finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds to complement the 51 points recorded by James. No other player on the team had more than 10 points.

In 18 postseason games in general, Love averages 14.3 points and 10.2 rebounds, while throwing 39.3 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from beyond the goal.

Although Love made just one of his eight three-pointer attempts on Thursday night, his ability to stretch the court and pull defenders to the perimeter is a key part of Cleveland's offensive attack.

Love is also a great reason why the Cavs beat the Warriors 53-38 in the rebounding battle in Game 1.

The Cavaliers fell 124-114 to the Dubs in overtime despite Love's efforts, however, and they can not afford to be without him in Game 2, as they even look for the series before returning to Cleveland.

Game 2 of the NBA finals is not until Sunday, which means the NBA will have time to make a decision about Love's status.
