The 21C Museum Hotel in Lexington, Kentucky on Wednesday unveiled its 1960s retro room inspired by The Queen’s Gambit – booking reservations for fans and chess enthusiasts alike.
The Harmon Room features a chessboard art installation on a bed mimicking drug-inspired visuals taken by orphaned chess Beth Harmon (Isla Johnson) at the runway hit Netflix show.
Lexington is Beth’s hometown, and the room includes a guide to the landmarks depicted in the seven-episode series based on the 1983 novel by Lexington native Walter Tavis.

Hallucinations: The Harmon Room features a chessboard art installation on a bed mimicking drug-inspired visuals of the orphaned Beth Harmon (Isla Johnson) in the hit Netflix show.
The mid-century modern furniture and furnishings of the boutique hotel room were chosen by interior designer Isabel Ladd, conservationist Lucy Jones and Alex Kay Mason of Ferric Mason Inc.
‘I was collecting furniture from that era for the last three decades,’ Jones said.
‘It is pure bliss to enliven rich scenes from the page and screen.’

Time Machine: Lexington is Beth’s hometown, and the room includes a guide to the landmarks depicted in the seven-episode series based on Lexington’s original Walter Tavis’ 1983 novel.

Laddu said: ‘When I saw The Queen’s Gambit, I stopped and was just mesmerized with all the colors and pattern play.’
The time capsule echoed the many luxurious hotels that Beth (Anya Taylor-Joy) and her enterprising adoptive mother Alma Wheatley (Marile Heller) stayed in for a chess tournament.
For a limited time only, guests can play on locally made chess sets and dub The Gambit of The Night in a ‘tireless experience’ on custom chess-themed wallpapers.

Laddu said: ‘When I saw The Queen’s Gambit, I stopped and was just mesmerized with all the color and pattern play.’
