Kelly Clarkson has scored some high points this summer, such as her first Emmy Award and her popular “Kellyoke” video, but it has come during times of personal conflict.
The pop star did not say the words when speaking with the Willie songwriter on Sunday about filing for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years in June.

“I mean, it’s no secret,” he said. “My life has been a bit of a dumpster … Personally, it’s been a bit harder than the last few months.
“I’m talking to friends who have gone through a divorce. I don’t know how people go through without some kind of outlet because it’s the worst thing ever for everyone involved.”
Clarkson, 38, filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in June, citing “irreparable differences” and requesting joint custody of his two children, River Rose, 6 and son Remington, 4.
She is pouring out her feelings on the split with Blackstock in her new album, which she hopes to release next year.
“It will probably be the most personal I’ve ever released,” he said. “And the whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is right now or where it is, and it’s very therapeutic to me.”
Clarkson’s children have already received a preview.
“It’s very honest. There’s one that my kids sing in the car,” she said. “I’m going through the mix, and I’m just like, ‘This is weird.’ Like, this is your relationship. I’ve never written about my life where my children are singing. “
She appeared to maintain a cordial relationship with Blackstock, which she thanked after winning her first Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for “The Kelly Clarkson Show”. The award came just a few weeks after she filed for divorce.

Clarkson also talked to Willie about how he got the “crazy” news that he had won an Emmy in the inaugural year of his talk show.
“I completely forgot Emmis was on,” she said. “I’m playing with Legos with my child. My executive producer Alex calls me and is like, ‘You’re the best host.” And I was like, ‘Thank you.’
