Kelly Clarkson calls her divorce from Brandon Blackstock the ‘worst thing’


The divorce was not an easy experience for Kelly Clarkson as it was revealed in June that she and her husband Brandon Blackstock were sharing.

The 38-year-old singer recently spoke with “Sunday Today” host Willie Gayist and opened up about the difficulties of the end of their marriage.

“It’s no secret, my life has been a bit of a dumper personally,” she admitted. “It’s a little harder than the last few months.”

Fortunately, he has a support system set up.

“I’ve been talking to friends who have been through a divorce, I don’t know how people pass without some sort of outlet,” she said. “Because it’s the worst thing ever for everyone involved.”

Clarkson and Blackstock, 43, had been married for almost seven years. They share two children: River, 6 and Remington, 4.

The divorce drama can serve as inspiration for the singer’s music career.

“This next record will probably be the most personal I’ve ever released. The entire record is basically every emotion that you experience from the beginning of the relationship to the end of it.”

The “Since You Been Gone” singer continued: “It’s very therapeutic for me.”

She described her upcoming album, hoping to debut next year as “very honest.”

“There’s one that my kids sing in the car … and I’m like, ‘This is weird,” he said with a laugh. “I have never written my life about where my children are singing.”
