Katy Perry compared Russell Brand’s marriage to ‘a tornado’


Katy Perry looks back on her first marriage.

The “Firework” singer, 35, is engaged to Orlando Bloom and welcomed just one daughter, Daisy, with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor, but Perry was once half of a different celebrity wedding.

In 2010, Perry married actor Russell Brand and announced their separation 14 months later. Their divorce was finalized in 2012.

The singer addressed the star “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” during an interview with her first marriage, “60 Minutes Australia” which aired on Sunday.

“I had great success on 23, 24 and 25 and then I met someone who was interesting and exciting,” she said. “It was like a tornado, it was all happening at once.”

Recognizing that she is ready for obstacles, the singer explained that friction, resistance and challenges have always resonated with her.

The star first addressed her relationship with the 45-year-old brand in an interview with Vogue in 2013.

The “American Idol” judge said, “He is a very smart man, and when I married him, I loved him.” “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him because he texted me saying that he was divorcing me on December 31, 2011.”

Perry, however, owns his share in the demise of the relationship.

So it was really sad, and it was very controlled, which was annoying.”

Perry said that she felt a lot of responsibility for the brand ending for her marriage, but she came to know the truth of the matter, which she did not share.

“I let go and I was like: It’s not because of me; it’s beyond me,” he said. “So I’m gone from that.”
