Between Boys, Invincible, and Superman and Lois, super dad problems are all the rage right now. Starting May 7, we can add Netflix’s Jupiter’s legacy to the list.
Based on a comic by Mark Millar (Kick ass, Kingsman), the new Netflix series stars Josh Duhamel and Leslie Bibb as two super-powered parents raising the next generation of Justice League-style heroes. But as the show’s official description notes, “Tensions rise as young superheroes, hungry to prove themselves, struggle to live up to their parents’ legendary public reputations and exacting personal standards.” Ben Daniels, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, Matt Lanter and Ian Quinlan round out the cast.
In 2017, at a time of maximum hype for Marvel and DC comic book movies, Netflix struck a deal with Millar to acquire the comic book company Millarworld.
“As the creator and reinventor of some of the most memorable stories and characters in recent history, from Marvel the Avengers to Millarworld’s Kick ass, Kingsman, Dear and Reborn franchises, Mark is the closest thing to a modern Stan Lee, ”Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said at the time. “We can’t wait to harness the creative power of Millarworld on Netflix and usher in a new era in global storytelling.”
Jupiter’s legacy It is the first show to result from the deal. The series premieres in its entirety on May 7.
