John Krasinski is aware that he married someone outside his league, so there is no need to remind him.
The actor stopped at The Tonight Show on Tuesday where he remembered a London customs agent disbelief when Krasinski, 38, told him he was married to British actress Emily Blunt.
"I got married and I do not know," Krasinski said when the audience erupted in applause at the mention of Blunt's name. "You do not have to tell me, the customs agent in London does."
Kransinki said he had a less than pleasant experience dealing with a customs agent while visiting Blunt on the set of Mary Poppins at the beginning of this year.
"It was going great, the customs, the whole experience, and then I hit this guy who was about my age," Krasinski recalled. "It seemed like he was ready to get a little cranky with me"
The former Office student said the agent was not impressed by his work history.
"He said:" It says here that you're an actor, would you know about something? "And I replied:" You know, we've modified the UK version of The Office & # 39; "shared." Hit one! He was like, "Oh, you took what we did, perfect?" "
But it was when Krasinski revealed that he was married to Blunt that things really got worse. " And then he says, 'Who are you visiting here? & # 39 ; And I was like, "my wife," said the star. "He says," Oh, is she an actress? Would I know? And I said, "I do not know, her name is Emily Blunt." And he says: "You? You married Emily Blunt? Go. Just go."
Krasinski and Blunt reunite in the upcoming thriller A Quiet Place that will hit theaters on April 6.
The actor recently opened to PEOPLE to work with his wife for the first time.
"We could be announcing our divorce at this time if it had gone the wrong way," he joked.
In the horror film, Krasinski, 38, and Blunt, 35, star in a marriage and wife desperately trying to protect their children. In real life, the two have been married for eight years and are the parents of their daughters Hazel, 4 and Violet, 22 months.
"I've never loved my wife more than after we made this movie," he said. He said. "For me, it was a matter of trust, we trust each other in everyday life for sure, but when you trust others in this way, it's different."
