Janelle Monae may have all the professional success she could have hoped for but she worries that she does not have her own family.
When Fault magazine asked the pop star what scared her, she said: "I will not have a family within the time I want to have a family."
Monae, 32, is notorious for keeping her private life out of the headlines. "I want to have children, but I do not want to lose that moment because I was so focused on my career and because I did not plan accordingly," he added. "That scares me more than anything."
The star says that when she becomes a mother, she will want her children to "dream bigger" than her and conquer the world.
In another part of the world interview, Monae confessed that being a "self-editor" and "perfectionist" has stopped her.
"I do not enjoy my experiences when I am so focused on being consistently perfect in every situation," he said. "It's something I've had to actively work on all my life, I used to consume my experience and I could not enjoy things because I was so focused on how they were going to present themselves."
Today, she is learning to enjoy her imperfections, and adds: "I realized that I connected more with myself and with other people when my defects are shared so that everyone can see them"
