Congressmen urge the Treasury Department to include a Palestinian official on the blacklist | Jns

Reps. Lee Zeldin (RN.Y.) and Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) Urge the Treasury Department to use Executive Order 13224 to blacklist an important Palestinian official, Issa Karake, head of the prisoner commission. the PLO, responsible for facilitating payments to terrorists or their families.

According to Zeldin and Lamborn, Karake is directly responsible for the department that facilitates financial compensation and other support for Palestinian terrorists imprisoned in Israel and the families of the dead terrorists. It has authorized the payment of staggered salaries to Palestinian terrorists imprisoned in the name of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other organized terrorist groups.

Appointing Karake under Executive Order 13224 would represent a key step towards the implementation of the Taylor Force Act, congressmen hold.

The Taylor Force Act – named after a 28-year-old former US military officer killed in March 2016 during his visit to Israel – cuts US aid to the Palestinian Authority for its payments to convicted terrorists and their families in a practice called "pay to kill". Israel enacted similar legislation to withhold tax transfers to the Palestinian Authority in early July.

EO 13224 provides the US government. UU the means to disrupt the financial support network for terrorists and terrorist organizations authorizing the government to designate and block the badets of foreign individuals and entities that commit, or present a significant risk of committing, a cts of terrorism.

"Taylor Force was a veteran of the US Army and a graduate of West Point, a very promising young man who was brutally murdered by a Palestinian terrorist," Zeldin said. "The Palestinian Authority incites this type of violence and financially rewards the families of these terrorists, just like the one who killed Taylor It is our responsibility to protect the citizens of our nation at home and abroad and hold those who foment and incite the killing of innocent Americans for their crimes "

The Israeli-American Coalition for Action, a key supporter of the Taylor Force Act, praised the congressmen for their letter urging the Treasury Department to be blacklisted to Karake.

"It is critical that our lawmakers take steps to ensure that this important law is carried out." We were proud to play an important role in bringing together Jewish, pro-Israel and legislative communities around the pbadage of the Taylor Force Act, and we will continue leading the charge to implement this law, working with leaders such as representatives Zeldin and Lamborn. " IAC for Action President Shawn Evenhaim.
