Israel immediately op ‘brought over 2,000 Ethiopian Jews

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told his Ethiopian counterpart that he intends to bring more than 2,000 Jews of “Ethiopia” to his country

Netanyahu’s office said the decision was “out of their commitment to the Jewish release of Aliyah for Israel.”

Some 13,000 Ethiopians are in the Jewish capital, Addis Ababa and Gondar, most of them waiting to go to Israel, which they call home. Most live in dire conditions and have threatened to go on a hunger strike if they have not given permission to travel to their “homeland”. Many say his family members have settled in Israel.

“Until the COVID-19 arrived, some 250 people left for Israel within the last one year. Now the trip has stopped, but Israeli officials are conducting online interviews, ”program director of the Ethiopian Jews’ community, Nigusi Elemu Isu, told The Associated Press.

Activists say that in 2015 the Israeli government vowed to bring the remaining Ethiopian Jews to Israel. When Ethiopia was in a state of civil war in 1991, Israel carried out the dramatic Operation Solomon, expelling 14,500 Ethiopian Jews in less than two days.

Jews in Ethiopia are often referred to in Ethiopia as “flourish”, a derogatory term that translates to “strangers” or “migrants”.
