Iraqi Prime Minister asks political blocs to meet after the Eid holiday



BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called on Iraq's political groups on Thursday to meet after the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr and agree on how to move forward in establishing a new parliament and government.

Abadi said that although there were violations in the parliamentary elections in May, constitutional provisions were the only way forward.

Eid al-Fitr follows the fasting month of Ramadan. The government announced that the holidays would end on Tuesday.
