A total of three iPhone X models exist, but at least one of them is faster than the other in terms of LTE speeds.

To be clear, the iPhone X that houses a Qualcomm modem is better at delivering wireless connectivity than the variant with Intel inside.

iPhone X gets LTE speeds tested

First, all three versions of iPhone X are A1865, A1901 and A1902. The third list is available only in Japan, so it does not really affect users in other countries as much.

The test team performed the badysis with four Vivaldi antennas, a sophisticated type of equipment that allowed them to accurately measure LTE performance and replicate scenarios where iPhones are at different distances from a cell tower.

The results: iPhone X models not created equal

Shared exclusively for PC Magazine, the studio started with a strong -85 dBm for the two variants of the iPhone X and continued to slowly reduce the signal strength until it no longer I could maintain the connection.

At first, the two reached download speeds of 195 Mbps, but at -87 dBm, the Intel model could reach only 169 Mbps, while Qualcomm did not lower that download speed. up to -93 dBm.

Under weak signals of less than -120 dBm, the iPhone X with the Qualcomm modem is 67 percent faster than Intel's when it comes to average LTE download speeds. Now the previous one lasted until -130 dBm before disappearing, while the last one could only reach -129 dBm.

In summary, iPhone X devices with Qualcomm modems are capable of faster LTE speeds than those with Intel components in certain situations where the signal strength is not as strong, and may last a little longer.

Apple wants equality

What is interesting here is that the gap in LTE speed performance between the two iPhone X models is narrower than the intermediate iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Cellular Insights were also tested in 2016.

The issue is that it is believed that Apple could be to blame for this, deliberately reducing the ability of the iPhone X with Qualcomm technology to do it more or less in line with its Intel counterpart.
