iPhone X old news? What that means for the new 2018 iPhones

Apple will share its second quarter earnings, that is, from January to March 2018, on May 1, but the hard times for the iPhone X are already predicted.

What will happen to the iPhone X?

It was assumed that the end of 2017 would be the "supercycle" of iPhone, with Apple enjoying the excellent sales of its latest iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus along with the spectacularly redesigned iPhone X. And while Apple reported large profits in that holiday quarter (October to December), iPhone sales fell slightly. Now, reports suggest that this quarter may be worse for the iPhone X.

Add that to the fact that this week has been full of comments on this year's new iPhones, including the rumored iPhone SE 2 and three successors of the iPhone X . So, if you're looking for a clue about the future of the iPhone, here are the stories you need to know.

Much of the paranoia of the iPhone X is due to reports from Apple suppliers. Manufacturers like Samsung, TSMC, AMS and SK Hynix, which manufacture different parts for the iPhone X, have reported a low demand for the exact component they get from the iPhone X. Samsung reported disappointing sales for its OLED displays chip maker TSMC pointed to " continued weak demand of [its] mobile sector " and 3D sensor manufacturer AMS gave its own negative outlook.

Given that all these companies have something in common, analysts predict that the low demand for these pieces points to a low demand for the iPhone X in general. One theory shared by analysts is that the high price of the iPhone X is contributing to the warm interest of customers in the wider consumer market, now that hardcore fans have already bought the X in its infancy.

Another rumor of premium features: three cameras on the back of a future iPhone. Current high-end iPhones such as the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus have a dual rear camera configuration, which allows for advanced camera functions such as low-light detection and portrait mode. But the rumor is that Apple can add another camera for even more photography skills.

The new Huawei P20 Pro comes with three rear cameras, and also takes some stunning photos . Who can say that we will not see other phone manufacturers doing the same in the near future?

Is this the time for the iPhone 8 to shine?

It may seem like a strange rumor, but an analyst says that Apple could launch a new iPhone with a stylus. The analyst predicts that the so-called "iPen" may be compatible with Apple's iPhone 2018 premium (it is rumored that it is called iPhone X Plus).

Now, Apple's co-founder, Steve Jobs, was famous for his antistylus perspective, hence the innovative touch screens on the iPhone and iPad. But Apple has created a kind of stylus for its line of iPad in the form of Pencil, a $ 99 accessory designed to draw and draw. It is not clear if the compatibility would be simply for the existing Pencil or if a new and smaller pen would be in the pack. But it would create an augmentation feature in premium iPhones, another way to delineate a more economical model (see below). And it would offer Apple a counterattack on its main rival, Samsung, whose line Galaxy Note pioneered the use of a stylus on a modern phone.

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts three new iPhones in the fall of 2018, with one of the models, a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, which acts as the budget option. According to the report, this iPhone could start with a price as low as $ 550, and rise from $ 100 to $ 200 depending on the compatibility with the storage or the double SIM. Still, a new iPhone of $ 550 would be about half the price of an iPhone X, giving a new option to people who walked away from the iPhone X because of its price.

Would Apple really launch an $ 550 iPhone? We have our doubts But if it did, Apple would have to cut the characteristics of the iPhone to make a cheaper phone work with Face ID.

The iPhone X was supposed to be the most premium and exciting iPhone compared to the iPhone 8, but it seems that the tables have changed, according to a survey. The consumer research group CIRP conducted a survey of 500 iPhone buyers in the United States and found that 23 percent of participants bought the iPhone 8, 21 percent bought the iPhone 8 Plus and 16 opted for the iPhone X.

.1 and March 31, but CIRP conducted a similar study for the previous quarter and found that demand for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus has increased, while the percentage of people who buy the iPhone X has decreased.

As a general rule, Apple does not divide iPhone sales by model. But CEO Tim Cook said on February 1 that the iPhone X was the best seller every week since it came out in November, but this survey paints a different picture. CIRP data may be incomplete, or things have changed since Cook made that statement.

It is rumored that the iPhone SE Apple's latest rival for a small and cheap phone, will receive an update soon. It is said that an update in the store for iPhone SE 2 is wireless charging. Apple's Fall 2017 iPhones were the first to have wireless charging, but Apple can expand the technology to non-premium iPhones by taking it to the SE.

The original iPhone SE was launched in March 2016, and has happened a lot in the iPhone world since then. We hope the iPhone SE 2 gets some solid updates compared to its predecessor, but it's still affordable.
