Much attention has been focused on what you’re not doing this fall when you’re buying an iPhone 12 – Apple reportedly won’t include a charger and wired earbuds with this year’s phone. But what about the stuff you will get when you first open that iPhone 12 box?
This may be a small console for some iPhone fans, but a Twitter leaker that focuses on Apple News has passed on a claim that your iPhone 12 will include a USB-C to Lightning charging cable, The standard charging cable that comes with the iPhone replaces years.
This claim retweeted by @ L0vetodream means a small upgrade for iPhone 12 buyers. Braided charging cables are supposed to be more durable than standard ones, so this cable should last longer and is good news when you’re already paying $ 649 and higher for an Apple new phone.

It is debatable whether a better charging cable would take the Sting out of other items that went missing in action after the iPhone 12 ships, but that’s what most iPhone 12 rumors point to. Back in May, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple did not include wired earpods with its new phone, while the missing charging block rumor picked up steam in June. In terms of what the iPhone 12 packaging might look like, the render does not include space for new phones, charging cables, and more.
Apple is apparently digging these goods as an accessory to avoid e-waste. Most of us are already lying around headphones and charging bricks, after all. But cynics also suggested that dropping these items from the iPhone 12 box would force shoppers to buy their own gear – and Apple sure would like to sell more AirPods and AirPods Pro.
We don’t know how solid this rumor of braided charging cable is, though @ L0vetodream is a frequent source of Apple-related rubbing from the amount of RAM in the iPhone 12 due to the lack of a charger. We will definitely find out later this fall when the iPhone 12 is expected to come with four different models, all of which should offer OLED screens and 5G compatibility.
