Image of Asia: the super moon rises behind the Myanmar pagoda


In this photo from Associated Press photographer Aung Shine Oo, the moon rises behind the Uppatasanti Pagoda in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.

The full moon on December 3 was the first of three consecutive supermoons. The next two will occur on January 1 and January 31, 2018. A super moon is a full moon or a new moon that roughly matches the closest distance the moon reaches its orbit, resulting in a size Apparent habit of the lunar disk seen from Earth.


This image was made with a lens at a focal length of 300 mm, a shutter speed of 1/200, aperture of f3.5 and ISO 320.
