YORK COUNTY, Pa. – The convenience of ordering food at your door with the touch of a finger can be tempting, but it can also come with problems.
Chris Payton, of York County, Pennsylvania, said he ordered food from Dickey & # 39; s Barbecue in West Manchester Township using DoorDash, a food delivery application that sends drivers to pick up orders from restaurants and delivers food to them directly at your door.
After the driver left his food, Payton said he opened the box and discovered that half had eaten.
Two of the six ribs he ordered were gone, and what appeared to be bite marks had been left behind.
"I was just stupefied, I was very surprised that something like this happened," Payton said.
Payton said he believed that the driver of the DoorDash delivery was the culprit.
"I guess he just stops by the side of the road and decides to have a small snack before delivery," Payton said.
WPMT spoke with the Dickey & # 39; s Barbecue employee who handled the order, and although they were not allowed to speak with the camera, they did confirm the Payton story and said they had previous problems with the same DoorDash driver.
"It's crazy, I do not understand people, why would they do something like that?" said Payton. "It's someone's food, you pay for that, you expect to get it, you pay for a service."
Dozens of similar complaints from other DoorDash customers across the country can be found online.
WPMT approached DoorDash for comments, but did not respond immediately.
Payton said that although DoorDash gave him back his money, he expected the driver to be reprimanded for his actions.
"Treat your customers with respect. Treat someone like you would like to be treated yourself, "said Payton.
