I have always struggled with my weight due to poor diet, lack of activity, and a life-long battle with depression. I would eat and drink my feelings. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were just a simple phone call away, and as I got older, the further away I was from society until they even handed me alcohol. I ate and drank because I was depressed, and the more I ate and drank, the more depressed I became. He was in a self-sabotaging cycle that seemed bottomless.

I had no idea of ​​proper nutrition and ordered pizzas and drank sodas while sitting on the couch playing video games hour after hour. I had tried to lose weight before and had lost over 150 pounds, but ended up putting it back on because I started renovating my house and didn’t have a working kitchen for a period of time, so I regularly bought take out. for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I kept gaining weight, until at my heaviest, I weighed 530 pounds.

Everything changed in January 2018 when, while walking down the street, I fell to the ground with a heart attack. Technically he had died. Paramedics resuscitated me and took me to the hospital, where I discovered that I had a blood clot. I had also torn my ACL, ACL, and internal cruciate ligament when I fell.

I thought to myself: ‘I’m just over 44 years old. You shouldn’t be lying here on an operating table with your arms tied in a crucifix position. ‘ The position seemed appropriate when the surgeon cut my wrist to begin the angioplasty. They had already brought me back once on my way here. That scared me a lot! As I was lying on the table, I never thought I would be where I am now.

Needless to say, I had to change everything in my life. As soon as I was able to get up, I started making changes. It started with the goal of being able to walk to the fence at the back of my yard and back, and each day I tried to increase the distance I walked. I incorporated more and more physical activity into my daily routine, in addition to completely reviewing my diet.

Now I am literally half the man I used to be, weighing 265 pounds, but I am more than twice what I was in many important ways. I currently train with weights on a 6 day cycle on 1 day off, while also doing cardio 6 times a week. I eat 7 meals a day, which are high in lean protein and moderate in complex carbohydrates, including lots of vegetables and water. I had lost 170 pounds on my own before contacting Josh Demelo, my trainer for the past 18 months, who has helped me lose an additional 95 pounds and add a lot of lean muscle mass.

Aside from my weight loss and muscle gains, my transformation has had many other benefits. On the one hand, I have a lot more energy; I can keep up with my 16 year old daughter. It has also given my self-esteem a huge boost. I always had very little confidence, but being fit and feeling good about myself on the inside has been a great help. My family and friends have given me very encouraging feedback during my weight loss, and I have even inspired many of my friends on their own fitness journeys.

If you want to lose weight and get in shape, my advice is simple: set small goals. Start by saying that you will lose 5 pounds by a certain date, and once you have reached that goal, set a new one of losing 5 more. By setting smaller goals and achieving them, it will help you stay motivated and on the right track. clue.
