The Humboldt County Sheriff Office of Emergency Services is monitoring the current wildfire situation occurring in neighboring counties and encouraging residents to prepare for wildfire activity.
Humboldt County residents are encouraged to sign up for Humboldt Alerts to receive local emergency notifications, including information about evacuation and emergency shelter in the event of a wildfire or other emergency event. Residents should also review their own emergency plans and ensure that they have adequate basic disaster supply kits.
As of Tuesday (9/8/2020) noon, there are no evacuation orders or warnings within Humboldt County. However, the county faces indirect impacts from Trinity County and surrounding fires during the fire season, including air quality and the current PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff.
The sheriff’s office is coordinating with the American Red Cross of Emergency Services, the Gold Country area, which is planning asylum for individuals seeking refuge from evacuation areas related to the Hopkins Fire in the Mendocino National Forest and the Red Salmon Complex Fire Situation is watching. Trinity Alps Wilderness for potential impacts on county residents.
