A new study has exposed the dangers of consuming "ultra-processed" foods: a category that contains white bread, prepared dishes, sausages, sugary cereals, soft drinks and chips. Researchers from the University of Paris-Sorbonne tracked the diets and subsequent mortality of nearly 45,000 middle-aged French participants. They found that every 10 percent increase in the intake of "ultra-processed foods" was related to a 14 percent increase in the risk of death over the next eight years.
