More from Five months ago, before the 2017 Tesla Model 3 was officially launched, we published the results of a survey that asked how many of the lower priced electric cars would be delivered by the end of this year.

Respondents on Twitter were optimistic, with more than half suggesting that Tesla would deliver more than 10,000 by December 31.

Suffice it to say that did not happen.

Tesla has not provided an update during the last weeks, but the approximate badumptions about the number of models 3 now in the hands of the owner are of the order of 1,000 or more.

Even that could be optimistic, considering that by the end of September, only 260 models 3 had been delivered, apparently made by hand at the badembly plant in Fremont, California.

Observers of anxious serial numbers report Model 3 VINs everywhere the first 1,000 or more numbers, but that is by no means an indication that all the cars in the middle reached their buyers.

The options this time are exactly the same as later, with options ranging from up to 2,500 on the pessimistic end of the scale and "more than 10,000" on the optimistic front.

Musk had predicted in July that the company would build 5,000 electric cars per week by December 31, but its most recent prediction it was considerably more sober: it would deliver more than 100,000 cars throughout 2017.

As always, keep in mind that our Twitter surveys are far from being scientifically valid, due to the small size of the sample and the self-selection by those who They choose to participate.
