How do the Packers recover?

Hello everyone. Happy Thanksgiving Day. Thanks for logging in. I have some time here before going to practice, so let's get started.

Tom's comment

Mike, did McCray get hurt, did Spriggs look horrible?

McCray left the Ravens game with a knee injury, and Spriggs was playing in his first game since week 1 after returning from IR.

Comment by Grant

Will McCarthy trust Mays this week? I need more than one RB …

It sounded Monday like a trainer that gives Mays a clean slate.

Comment by Sean_C

Mike, with the game running being pretty successful for the most part, why should not we use it more? it seems like something worth trying to ease Hundley's pressure a little.

As noted, and as McCarthy said after Sunday's game, Mays' fumble on his first carry gave a key to everything.

Comment from Jeff in Idaho

Hi Mike, how exciting it will be to have two Packers elected to the Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to Butler for making the semifinalist list. However, he will have trouble deciphering this year's clbad. I see Ray Lewis, Randy Moss and Brian Urlacher as new eligible locks, and Terrell Owens was terribly close last year. If they have already taken four points, I do not like Butler's chances this year. But I'm definitely trying to convince him and I think he deserves it. I also hope that Jerry Kramer will finally get his fair reward this year, obviously.

Sean's comment

What's the word on Kenny Clark ?

McCarthy said he is starting the week with the rehabilitation group.

Comment by Jason H.

Mike, I'm a proud Packer fan and I've been hit at work. I honestly believe that this offense is close to Hundley. They were productive last week. I just made many big mistakes. Do you think this offensive could surprise a lot of people this week?

I think the Ravens defense was a big challenge, and the Steelers' unit is not in anyone's back seat. This is a great week for Hundley to show what he learned last week.

Comment by Linda P.

Mike, I'm glad I talked to Murphy yesterday. If Brett struggles with any possibility, do we see Callahan?

It's good to hear from you too. That is the question that many are asking. Honestly, I do not know the answer. McCarthy has repeatedly endorsed Hundley, and I do not see any change being made. I think he wants to help him with all this.

Comment by Sbw

Would not Hundley be more successful if he got in his pocket? I'm sure the lineman would appreciate it.

I think a couple of times I tried to intensify and misinterpret the corridor angle. Other times he has escaped abroad when he did not need it. Pocket consciousness is not something simple.

Comment by Tony

Has MM been painted on a corner in Hundley?

No. I think he's going with the quarterback, who thinks he gives the Packers the best chance to win.

Comment by John

Mike, you just thought you'd want to know that there is a dishonest questioner who sends the same question to Insider Inbox and Ask Vic and the other day he received the same question on both sites.

I found out about that. It is a good way to be expelled, by either of us or both.

Matt's comment

Why give up on Mays after the fumble? The result was obviously terrible, but who benefits from such a short belt?

I wonder if the decision was different if it was not the third consecutive move of the offense to open the game. Obviously, Mays had nothing to do with the first two INTs, but a part of me believes that the first three possessions played in the decision.

Comment from me

Here I hope Brett can restart and play with more consistency and rhythm [19659003] He has to do it. His fourth quarter in Chicago was outstanding. Now he has to recover from a really difficult day. Everything is part of the process.

Comment by Nick

Everyone wants to leave the boat this season, but I just want more football from the Packers. And you, Mike?

Besides taking a vacation time, I enjoy this job during the season much more than during the off season. I think that everyone who works on the website does it.

Comment by John

Mike, if we have 6 losses at the moment when Rodgers is healthy, will he come back?

It depends on how many games are left and what the rest of the NFC looks like, in terms of records.

Comment by John

Mike, I am struck by how aware players are of what is said about them in the media. Do you think they listen to the local sports radio in the car?

I do not know how to talk about radio locally, but they are aware of things that are available through social networks and other channels.

Comment from Al

Is it possible that MM has become too confident with Hundley based on his previous performance in the 4th quarter?

Maybe, or maybe Hundley did it. It is difficult to know.

Comment by Chuck

Will there be king available this Sunday?

McCarthy said he was going to practice on Wednesday. That's a good sign. I have felt the whole season that this defense looks better with him as one of the corners of the limit.

Comment by BrettGB

Who do you think we should expect in the game Vikings / Lions, tomorrow?

I answered this in the inbox this morning, and for me, it depends on whether you think the Vikings are going to win their next two in Atlanta and Carolina, or lose them. Not being able to predict the future, it is difficult to know what result on Thursday in Detroit would benefit the Packers more.

Comment by John

Do you think that players read Insider Inbox?

I have serious doubts that. If they do, nobody has told me anything about the answers I have given.

Comment by Justin

Mike, how do you get a young field marshal to trust what he sees and pull the trigger? I see many plays where Hundley seems to look at an open receiver and does not shoot the ball. How does McCarthy calm him down?

I've never played soccer, much less trained it, so I have no idea. But for that is the practice. McCarthy knows a lot more about what Hundley needs than any of us, believe me in that.

Comment by Margeaux

I could not see the Ravens game. Is it true that Packer fans were booing? If so, how widespread was it?

There were many times when the offense left the field, but nothing that was considered overwhelming. The frustrations were felt by everyone.

Comment by Steven

Mike, what do you like most about Thanksgiving?

It is a holiday without obligations other than family, food and football. McCarthy has set the team's schedule so everyone can get out around noon tomorrow, so I have that for me, which is good.

Comment by Chuck

Do you know how much childhood home MM is from the stadium?

No, but I know we're doing a Packers Everywhere rally in the old Greenfield neighborhood of McCarthy on Saturday night.

Comment by Bruce

Why do you think the Packers offense? Does it look great when you use the scripts at the beginning of the game and then seem to fight after that?

That's soccer. The defenses see what you are doing and adjust. The offenses have to counteract. The first written works are the ones that have been practiced the most, so the execution is usually more efficient. But the game is about adjustments on the fly, and make things happen in difficult times. The script is just a starting point.

Bud's comment

Do you think the Packers should open negotiations with Davante Adams since the playoffs for this team are a distant reality and the price may be lower than at the beginning of the free agency?

It would not be a bad idea, but with six regular-season games, Adams does not want to sign an extension. Now, if he thinks the market will treat him more favorably after the season. There are always two sides to these things.

Comment by John

Mays had a problem in college?

Not that I know. In that first click you could see how nervous he was. He took his first step forward as if taking a standard handoff, and it was a throwing move. You almost lose the ball. Mentally you need to pbad it and move on.

Comment by Linda P.

Mike, Viking fans are really rejoicing. I find them very good, unfortunately. You said the Saints were your Super Bowl team. Who do you see playing in the NFC title game? And the Super Bowl?

I do not like to make predictions as early as I said about the Saints in Inbox. The Steelers could be the most complete team in the AFC, but they have played some klunkers this year. Vikings, Eagles, Panthers, Falcons … all of them could have a legitimate chance in the postseason in the NFC.

Comment by Dave

Do you think that Brady can really play effectively until he is 45 years old as he says?

I would not be surprised.

Clint's comment

The Steelers' defense seems far superior to the Ravens defense. Another offense that shows how last week should have worse results. What do you think you need to change to be successful?

Find a way to run the ball, to balance the attack and Hundley some play opportunities. However, it will not be easy. As I said since Jones had the big game against the Saints on the field, the teams are going to charge to stop the race and make Hundley beat them.

Jim's comment

Sorry Mike but your answers seem to be what a trainer would say instead of objectively looking at the way Hundley played. This is the best it is going to be since he looks scared and has little vision. It was what was said about him at the university. You can not train instincts

The best thing to be? I do not know how anyone can honestly believe that after five games.

Comment by Tony

I'm excited for Antonio Brown. It is not like this?

He is an electrifying player. I'm always curious to see that guy in person for the first time in a long time.

Matt's comment

Do you and Biff ever consider yourselves (our fans) coaches?

More like therapists, I think. 🙂

Comment by Filipe Almeida

Can the packers stay alive in the fight for the postseason until Rodgers returns?

I do not know if Rodgers can return when he is eligible for the first time, which would be with three games remaining, but if that is really the case, then you have to win 2 of the next 3, so you're in 7 victories with the possibility of reaching 10. This is how I see it.

Comment by Goofus

Thanks for the chat, Mike. We continue to hear that "players have to step up" to compensate for the loss of Aaron. Does not that mean they were not giving everything before their injury?

Some see it that way. I think the expression is just an acknowledgment that every small opportunity for an individual to make a move must be exploited, because the best player on the team is not there to take advantage of his power.

Comment by BrettGB

Any plan for Thanksgiving, Mike?

I'm going to my in-laws' house as soon as I finish my work tomorrow. I hope to arrive in time for the second half of Vikingos-Lions.

Joe's Comment

Give us your three selections for Turkey Day!

Well, I'll take the Lions, Chargers and Redskins. But honestly I have no idea.

Comment by Peter V.

Davante Adams is having a great year! I definitely should be nominated for the Pro Bowl!

It's a difficult group to enter as a receiver, but Adams is definitely preparing a solid season.

Okay, it's almost time to go practice. I'll take a couple more.

Comment by Tony

What would Vic say about Barr's coup?

Probably a tough game for tough guys.

Joe's comment

I mean the food !!!

Oh, I'm sorry … turkey with cranberry, green bean cbaderole, cake. With those three, I'm fine.

Tim's comment

Mike: Thank you for the good job and wonderful vacation

Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving to all who are out there. Enjoy the day. Talk again soon, Mike
