Honda, Volvo, Lincoln win the American car 2018, truck of the year

The results are shown at the Detroit Auto Show and the winners of the 2018 automobile and truck of North America come from Honda, Volvo and Lincoln. The competition was tough in all three categories, but the Accord, XC60 and Navigator managed to stand out from the crowd and impress the judges as something special.

The Volvo XC60 was the recipient of a complete redesign that upgraded the already popular mid-size SUV to Volvo's new and amazing design language. The competition in the Utility Vehicle category of the year included the new minivan of Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Honda Odyssey .

"Like the XC90, the XC60 offers the distinctive luxury brand of Volvo and can be even more attractive than its big brother, the trip is exemplary, and when it is well equipped, it has a good value," said Kirk. Bell, NACTOY jury and freelance writer.

The American truck of the year was Lincoln's new navigator . The Navigator was left behind for a long time and many people forgot that it was the first full-size luxury SUV, but with the Navigator's new and bold style, they will never forget it again. Competitors in this class included members of Lincoln's own extended family in the form of the Ford Expedition and the excellent Chevrolet SUV, Colorado ZR2 .

"The 2018 Navigator received a more dramatic update than its brother Ford Expedition and its impact on the brand will be stronger as a result." With its design now aligned with the Continental, the Navigator becomes an even more important image, and the profit maker for Lincoln, "said Ron Sessions of the New York Daily News.

The Honda Accord placed first in the competition for the American car of the year, having to fight with the new and hot Stinger of Kia and the recently remodeled Toyota Camry ] The Accord won thanks to a sleek new design and a spacious and well-equipped interior.

"Honda seems to have executed some kind of magic trick: this 10th generation Accord is not only much more elegant and more decisive than its predecessor style, it is somehow more roomy inside," said Chris Paukert, member of the NACTOY jury and editor-in-chief of Roadshow (in other words, us). "Even in low-end finishes, it handles well and offers a lot of standard equipment."

2018 is shaping up to be another exceptional year in terms of new cars and trucks, so we're thrilled to see what ends up at the top of the pile next January.
