DALLAS – Two Dallas police officers were shot and seriously wounded on Tuesday afternoon in a Home Depot shooting, reports CBS Dallas / Fort Worth. Dallas police say a civilian also was shot. His condition was not known.
A large police presence was seen outside the store and a person was seen being loaded into an ambulance. Sources told JD Miles of CBS DFW that a suspect was being chased near a stream behind the store, and officers were seen peering into a stream.
Police identified the suspect as Armando Juárez, 29. They say that it must be considered armed and dangerous. The police say he was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans shorts. The police are looking for a white work truck in which they say they have gotten.
Police with firearms responded when employees appeared to run out of the back of the store and away from the area, the station informs. The police were evacuating the store and the employees were sent home for the day. Armored vehicles responded to the scene.
Employees tell the station that the incident started as a shoplifting, and shots were fired after police responded at around 4 p.m. An officer was taken to the Presbyterian Hospital, reports the station.
