Henry Cejudo had an answer to Urijah Faber after the UFC Hall of Fame member suggested a fight with the UFC bantamweight champion after his victory in the UFC on ESPN + 13.
Faber (35-10 MMA, 11-6 UFC) returned to the octagon after more than two years on Saturday and defeated prospect Ricky Simon (15-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) by knockout in just 48 seconds. It was the perfect setting for "The California Kid," who did the work in front of his local audience at Golden1 Center in Sacramento, California.
Cejudo (14-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) started talking about a showdown when he mentioned Faber as a possible opponent after his knockout of Marlon Moraes to claim the 135-pound belt in June. Faber recovered after his big win, and although it remains to be seen if the UFC is interested in booking the fight, the champion is certainly doing his part to build it.
Hours after the UFC on ESPN + 13, Cejudo went to social networks and issued a response to Faber (through Twitter):
Be careful what you want for my princess rolled. You could be the next legend to bend the knee to Triple C.
Cejudo's next fight is still not about to be reserved after the UFC double incumbent underwent shoulder surgery last month. Your schedule for a return is in early 2020 or maybe in December if things go perfectly.
Faber said that after the fight he will sit down with the members of the UFC and evaluate his future after a triumphant return of his retirement, and at this point all the signs point to a possible confrontation with Cejudo as part of the discussion.
