Blizzard Entertainment announced today that The Witchwood, its next expansion for Hearthstone, will launch April 12 for PC, Android and iOS. This will be the eighth expansion of the market's leading card game.
It is also the first of the Year of the Raven, a new standard cycle that will rotate the cards of the oldest sets: Whispers of the Ancient Gods, One Night in Karazhan, and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan – to Wild, a mode that contains all the cards of the game. This is the third standard year and the second time we see a rotation. Both the rotation and the introduction of new cards open up possibilities for new decks and strategies, which encourages fallen players to return (and spend money on new packs).
The Witchwood presents 135 new cards and new mechanics, such as Echo. That allows you to continue playing the same card as many times in a turn as possible. Rush is another new keyword that allows your card to attack enemy subjects, but not heroes, in the turn in which they are played. Other cards, including the ones we present, strengthen your hero power. Others will give the benefits of your deck if it includes only odd or even mana cost cards.
