ALBANY, NY (AP) – Leading health groups, including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and the American Lung Association are pushing to raise the age of smoking to 21 across the state of New York.
Organizations urged lawmakers on Wednesday to act on the proposal before the close of the year next week.
A growing number of local communities including New York City, Nassau County and Westchester County have already increased their smoking age to 21.
