HBO Max first launched nearly a year ago, bringing most of the Time Warner Media catalog under one roof with selected high-profile shows and movies from other companies. The service is likely to see a surge in subscribers, thanks to all the movies Warner Bros. is releasing on HBO Max (along with limited theatrical runs), and there are now some improvements in store for TV viewing.
HBO Max is bringing the reset button back for Android TV, which was removed a few months ago for unknown reasons. The Play Store changelog says that now that you’re back, restarting a movie in progress or TV episode only takes one click:
Back By Popular Demand – We’re thrilled to introduce the reset button again for Android TV users! We know you’ve been missing it and now you can quickly restart a video in progress with just one click. This update also includes new and improved player controls for Android mobile device and tablet users, making it easy to get back to what you’re watching. Additionally, we’ve fixed some bugs and made performance improvements for a faster and smoother streaming experience.
In addition to the new button, a recent Reddit post by u / djjsin noted that Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound is working on Chromecasts again. Of course, you’ll still need a format-optimized movie or TV show, but at least your streaming device won’t get in the way anymore.
