Lenovo will release the first 5G smartphone according to a report of the past few days. Specifically, according to the information from a vice president of Weibo, Chang Cheng, the device will be equipped with Snapdragon 855.
As Qualcomm turned to TSMC instead of Samsung to produce the Snapdragon 855 will be based on the 7nm architecture the processor is not expected to follow the same mood timetable as its predecessors. The chip will not arrive later than December, with the first implementations expected to reach the market in the first quarter of 2019. Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus and Huawei have confirmed that they will make available 5G smartphones, though sources ruin the rumors that a time will be created as the 5G is not expected to become available at least until 2020.
The first version of the 5G is expected to arrive at speeds that are 10 times faster than those of the 4G networks, but the 5G NR communications are expected to increase energy consumption, with manufacturers working on more efficient chips.
