Gov. Brown proclaims transport service will resume at Port of Portland

SALEM, Ore. – Service is about to renew on the Port of Portland after Gov. Kate Brown introduced Monday that Swire Shipping will start transport service at Terminal 6.

Brown made the announcement with the Port of Portland and Business Oregon and stated that is half of a bigger objective to make sure Oregon regional shippers can do enterprise internationally.

“Not only does the container service support jobs for Oregonians, it’s going to give more options to Oregon companies as we work to maximize Terminal 6,” Brown stated in a launch.

Brown made the announcement after her current commerce mission journey to Hong Kong the place she met with Swire company executives.

Swire Shipping will start operations on the terminal in January 2018.

“The ship call at Terminal 6 is likely to be monthly and includes export shipments of Western Star trucks to Australia, export containers to Australia / New Zealand, and import containers from Asia,” the discharge from Brown’s workplace stated.

A $250,000 Strategic Reserve Fund is supporting Swire’s new transport service to badist Oregon companies ship their merchandise to worldwide markets.
