As we get closer to Google I / O 2021, rumors have started to point to new hardware, including a Pixel 5A and Pixel Buds A, a set of lower-cost true wireless earbuds that would sit below the main pair of the company. Google seems to have gotten ahead of itself, however, since according to 9to5Google, a new email contains an image of olive green Pixel Buds that are not part of the current lineup. The inside of the case also has the same color as the buttons, which is not the case with the second-generation Pixel Buds. Another clue that these are new is that the inside of the headphones is also the same green color.
So with those things in mind, we are likely to see the next Pixel Buds A in this image. They look practically identical to regular Pixel Buds, although the second LED inside the charging case has either disappeared or is simply not visible in this shot. There’s always a chance someone messed with the color tint here to better match the Pixel 5, but that would be a bit unusual.
There is likely a recent Federal Communications Commission filing for these headsets. We will have to wait for the eventual announcement from Google to see what features have been removed if the company actually plans to sell them at a noticeably lower price than the standard Pixel Buds. With those that cost $ 179, maybe Google is aiming to hit a price of $ 99 or $ 129.
Google’s second-generation Pixel Buds had some connection stability issues when they were first shipped, which the company tried to fix over the course of several firmware updates. But some customers continue to encounter issues like dropouts and other bugs, so hopefully Google will say a thing or two about the strength of the connection when it comes to announcing these Pixel Buds A.
