Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is investing in digital assets, US bank’s latest move to enter the world of cryptocurrency, website CoinDesk Reported.
The New York-based bank issued a request for information on at least one cryptocurrencies player in late 2020, according to the portal, citing an unknown person. The Goldman initiative was part of a broader digital strategy, CoinDesk said.
Representatives of Goldman Sachs did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment during weekend hours.
The possible entry by Goldman would be the latest in a broader trend to bring the digital currency into American banking. Earlier this month, Anchorage Digital Bank became the first cryptocurrency firm Win a charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
