After Canadian air traffic controllers sent pizza to their American colleagues in the middle of the closure of the US government last week, former President George W. Bush did the same thing delivering pizza to his Secret Service agents without paying on Friday.
Bush uploaded an Instagram photo that shows him greeting his employees with a handful of pizza boxes piled up.
"@LauraWBush and I are grateful to our Secret Service staff and the thousands of federal employees who work hard for our country without a paycheck," he wrote in the title. "And we thank our fellow citizens who support them."
Bush ended his post with a call for bipartisanship. "It's time for the leaders of both sides to put politics aside, come together and finish this closure."
As the closure enters its 29th day, some 6,000 Secret Service employees are among the 800,000 federal workers who do not receive paychecks, reports The Washington Post.
