Host Jimmy Fallon recalled how Matarazzo, who plays Dustin on Netflix’s hit sci-fi series, told him earlier that the upcoming fourth season could be “the scariest.”
“Ooh yeah. That’s the only thing I’ve noticed, ”Matarazzo replied. “I was reading it and (I thought) they were going to do it this year. That is very beautiful.”
Matarazzo explained last week how the new season unfolds in “little increments here and there” had a more mature tone. Production was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.
“When it comes to the tone of the season, I definitely think the tone has definitely matured, and I think they do it on purpose because I think they want their show to mature with their children,” the actor explained to “Entertainment Tonight.”
“As we age as people, we have to age as characters. They face this problem, but embrace it and use it to their advantage, ”Matarazzo continued. “And they don’t get scared when we get taller or lower our voices or anything like that. They use it and use it as ammunition for their writing. It’s amazing what they can do. Working with them is simply exceptional. Always has been.”
